Shiloh Davies

This story was originally published in The Stranger’s July 2026 print issue. Multidisciplinary artist and designer Shiloh Davies is looking to “bring a little more play into the everyday.” Their textile works—which include soft sculptures, costume designs, and installations—are fantastical, surreal, and full of childlike whimsy. Whether it’s large pancakes stacked along a wall, giant […] The post Shiloh Davies appeared first on The Stranger.

Seattle Art Fair 2026 Cheat Sheet

It’s time for the Seattle Art Fair, taking place July 23–26 at the Lumen Field Event Center.  I probably don’t have to explain art fairs to anyone, but art fairs are the glitzy cousin of trade fairs, usually housed in fluorescent-flooded convention centers, where galleries gather under one roof to show off their hottest, most […] The post Seattle Art Fair 2026 Cheat Sheet  appeared first on The Stranger.

Slog AM: Pete Hegseth’s Elite, High-T Warriors, the Great “Chinese Child Pornography” Robbery, and Trump’s Illegal $1 Not-Gold Coin

The Naked and Infamous: Denny Blaine Park, Seattle’s favorite hangout for nude gays, will stay open and partially naked, a judge ruled yesterday. The unsightly anti-masturbation fence will stay up, and the city will have to staff the beach with masturbation spotters, place signs outlining good and bad behavior, and establish buffer zones that block […] The post Slog AM: Pete Hegseth’s Elite, High-T Warriors, the Great “Chinese Child Pornography” Robbery, and Trump’s Illegal $1 Not-Gold Coin appeared first on The Stranger.

What Do We Do About Aurora? It’s Complicated

Today on the podcast, we dig into the issues surrounding Aurora Avenue. Aurora has a long and complicated history, and more recently, local residents’ relationship to one northern section of the road has only gotten more so: the section of the road between 85th and 105th streets experiences frequent gunfire, which some believe is rooted in sex trafficking. Earlier this summer, neighbors, dissatisfied with the city's response, took matters into their own hands and placed makeshift barriers blocking through traffic on their streets. We wanted to hear from some of those neighbors directly, so host Jane C. Hu and producer Sam J. Leeds talk with a community advocate who led a walk of Aurora for local community members and lawmakers, a sex worker impacted by the city’s policing efforts, and a resident reimagining the future of Aurora.   Learn more about the sponsors of this July 16th episode: Seattle Theatre Group Want to get in touch? WEST SEATTLE SCENE: Last low-low tide of summer

That was the scene at today’s low-low tide – last -3-feet-or-lower tide of summer, just after noon. Dave Gershgorn sent photos from the south end of Constellation Park.
