Mariners Game #98 Preview and Discussion, 7/17/26: SEA vs SFG
Knock knock, rise and shine, let’s get moving and grooving. The Mariners are back from their horrible, dreamless slumber, with only a groggy recollection of the night before, and an instinct — call it hangxiety — that it’s best to get up before any memory can sneak through their pounding head. Thankfully, their first appointment […]

Trying again with the second half Mariners
What are our expectations for the Seattle Mariners the rest of this year? The club which finally assembled a roster preseason worthy of division title presumption, and pennant dreaming beyond mere wish-casting, has vastly underperformed. They kick off the season’s second half (or 60% mark, more accurately) a game under .500, in second place in […]

Series Preview: Mariners (48-49) vs. Giants (41-55)
With a few days to rest and reevaluate after a disappointing end to the first half of the season, the Mariners are hoping to start fresh after the All-Star break. Julio Rodriguez and Brendan Donovan should be returning from their injuries sooner rather than later, and the team will kick off the stretch run with […]

Right wing talk show host Jason Rantz keeps demonstrating he’d rather blatantly spin poll results than honestly interpret them
Two new propaganda pieces that ran in Seattle Red in July of 2026 continue a pattern of deception from the station's top personality. One passes off advocacy issue polling as ballot measure polling and another pretends that a symbolic one-point difference in NPI's congressional polling establishes a Republican lead in WA-03. Right wing talk show host Jason Rantz keeps demonstrating he’d rather blatantly spin poll results than honestly interpret them is a post from NPI's Cascadia Advocate, the journal of the Northwest Progressive Institute. Meet the 2026 candidates for Washington State Supreme Court Position #1: Scott Edwards
The longtime constitutional and tax attorney is campaigning for Position #1 on a promise to “take politics out of the courtroom,” but begins the race trailing both of his opponents, NPI's Civic Heartbeat research has found. Brian Heywood’s IP26-645 (gutting billions in progressive revenue for education and essential services) is getting certified
645 would repeal the state's new million dollar earners tax, which only 20,000 or so of the wealthiest Washingtonians would begin paying by the end of the decade, while leaving in place the legislative authorization for the investments the revenue is supposed to fund, creating an enormous fiscal mess. Language tucked in the measure could also put at risk existing sources of revenue, too. Brian Heywood’s IP26-645 (gutting billions in progressive revenue for education and essential services) is getting certified is a post from NPI's Cascadia Advocate, the journal of the Northwest Progressive Institute. AL Punches Out NL in 2026 MLB All-Star Game
The American League shutout the National League 4-0 on Tuesday in the 2026 All-Star Game. Here’s some notes I took. Keeping Score: I decided to watch the All-Star Game this year.
